“Written in Blood” is translated into Swedish

In this time of seismic change and instability, many of us are finding the scale of injustice overwhelming. It can be inspiring to look to the Christian martyrs for justice whose lives were “written in blood” – extraordinary people whose stories of truth, justice and peace, in the face of indifference and opposition, offered witness to a hope-filled future of solidarity and fraternity. But what are the causes of injustice in our time, and what does it mean to live a life written in blood today?

Jenny Sinclair sought to answer this question when she delivered the annual lecture at Justice and Peace Europe’s General Assembly in Malta last year.

The lecture has now been translated into Swedish thanks to Ludwig Gelot, Secretary General for the Swedish Commission for Justice and Peace.

Inspired by the lecture, Mr Gelot asked for T4CG’s permission to publish hard copies of the lecture to circulate to every parish and Christian school in Sweden. Giving the translation the subtitle “Beyond liberalism and socialism – the Christian call to hope in our time”, Ludwig’s goal is to bring the work to the 120,000 Swedish Catholics and Christians of other traditions.

Jenny welcomed this approach. “I was delighted when Ludwig proposed this idea. It’s an honour to have my work translated and distributed so widely across the Christian community in Sweden.”

You can read or listen to the original lecture in English here and download the Swedish translation here.
