"It was inspirational...this is a project that will and should gather momentum." "I was impressed by the collective knowledge and experience" "A wonderful achievement to bring together so many committed people" “I was invigorated and disturbed by the input.”"I left wanting to take some action.”
For those who weren't able to attend the recent Together for the Common Good Conference, and for those who took part, we have put together a short report - attached here as a pdf or you can download it or read it online here. To share the experience more widely and to make it as easy as possible for you, we've been busy transcribing speeches and collecting texts for download and videos of all the sessions for you to watch.
Those who were there will know that the T4CG Conference was a significant gathering. The feeling was that in the stark reality of the new economic and political context, the need for rebalancing and reconciliation in society is now more urgent than ever. The churches and faith-based organisations' collective depth of experience in working side by side with communities can make a critical difference in this great task. The mood was that articulating and demonstrating what the Common Good means in practical and political terms will be more effective if we do it together, so we will need to make a deeper commitment to collaboration, at all levels. With many new initiatives being discussed, it was clear that, using the considerable networks and resources at their disposal, those present intend to put this into practice.
Our website is becoming a resource and discussion forum for practitioners and those interested in working for the common good. Watch video of conference sessions, download texts of conference speeches, join the discussion in the T4CG Blog, discover useful downloads and further reading in our Resources pages, read articles and Opinion pieces, explore different stories of collaboration in our Case Studies. Our Twitter account is @T4CG.
